Dan’s clients benefit from more than two decades of experience solving the most complex accounting and tax needs in residential and commercial real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction structuring.
He focuses his practice on real estate, technology, and government contracting. Dan also has extensive experience in the taxation of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), debt instruments, and tax accounting methods.
He works with clients on tax matters concerning partnership formations and liquidations, partnership mergers and divisions, and REIT tax compliance and liquidation plans. He has also assisted clients with purchases and sales of partnership interests, tax-free exchanges of real estate, and individual tax planning with respect to partnership activities.
Dan elected to join the accounting profession because he thought it seemed logical and direct after helping his Dad with booking during his summers. Dan used that as a starting point and has become an expert in some of the most complicated areas of tax planning, execution, and compliance.
Dan received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Towson University and his Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Baltimore. Before joining Saggar and Rosenberg, Dan helped clients as part of the national tax staff at one the country’s largest accounting firms. He is also a member of the AICPA and MACPA.
Dan is a veracious reader, which helps him power through the tax technical aspects required to remain an expert in his field. He also uses this talent to follow his passion for reading. His reading list covers a wide swath, including non-fiction like Bowling Alone and The Logic of Failure, Malcolm Gladwell, Biographies, and the classics like Dostoevsky, 1984, and Fahrenheit. Dan also enjoys weight-lifting and spending time with his wife and two toddlers.
